Before I became a mother, I would have bet money in Vegas that I would be the quintessential cool mom. The one who is chill and easy-breezy with just about everything. I was only partially wrong. I’d like to think I’m a cool-ish mom. I’m in the know about most fashion trends, current music and the stupid acronyms kids these days use when texting. I am not strict with screen/television time and sometimes my kids even curse in the house. I’m like a hybrid strict mom. And while parenting vibes vary among the peer group, as my kids get older and more independent, I gain a clearer picture of the disparity in parenting styles. And honestly, I am constantly shocked to learn that more times than not I end up closer to strict on the spectrum.
